Best of Butterflies 001 Set

Sometimes we just need a quick and elegant card for an occasion.  Today I needed a birthday card that was impressive, but didn’t take a ton of time.  The Best of Butterfly set is perfect for this occasion.  Who doesn’t like butterflies?  I decided to go with one of my favorite retiring colors – River Rock.  River Rock looks stunning with Basic Black, so my choices today were quite simple.

It’s my son in-law Jeff’s birthday today, and I thought this card would be perfect.  The colors are neutral, and the butterfly is cool.  And since he’s a cool guy, it’s a perfect fit.

Creative Tips:

  • I wanted to add a little splash of color, so I inked up my clear D stamp block in River Rock and stamped it on a piece of Whisper White card stock.
  • I popped the butterfly image on top in Basic Black and gave it a quick zap with my heat gun to set the black ink.
  • The greeting is from the set You’re Amazing, and although I probably could have put it on an accent using Apothecary Accents Framelits, I thought it was better by itself today.Best of Butterflies 001 CU
  • I popped up the Butterfly once I matted it on Basic Black.  I thought it needed just a little pop of elegance, so I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels for a nice effect.
  • When adding Pearls, I like to place them in three in an asymmetrical triangle.    So I used two below connecting to the point within the Butterfly and three above.
  • I refrained from wanting to place more pearls in the design portion of the greeting as it was too much.  As a rule – when you want to stamp or place one more somewhere – stop! Best of Butterflies 001 Height
  • This card took just a few minutes to put together and is a great go to card for any occasion.  I hope you love the end result just as much as I do.Best of Butterflies 001 Main

Today we’re continuing to stamp with Stampin’ Up!’s 25th Anniversary stamp set – Best of Flowers.  Welcome to the RemARKable Blog Tour!  I’m stop #3 and you’ve just come from my friend Linda’s blog Ink Stamp and Scrap.  I love Linda’s style – she stamps like me – clean and simple!

    Best of Flowers 001 Main

This is the third day of samples with this great stamp set.   Our anniversary sets have several images that are retired but were quite popular and one brand spankin’ new one!  I’m so glad they brought them back in this exclusive limited edition set!  I thought today I’d stamp with the rose bouquet as I’ve never stamped with this one before.

It also marks my first time using the Dress Up Framelits.  I just love these little framelits, they’re so cute!  And you can do SO much with them.  The limits are endless.

    Creative Tips:

    • I took our First Edition DSP and cut that out with the dress form, stamped directly on it using Jet Black StazOn and the Rose Bouquet stamp.  Best of Flowers 001 CU
    • I squeezed my ink pads to collect the ink in the lid and water colored my images using the Aqua Painters.  I colored the image using Riding Hood Red and Garden Green.
    • I stamped color on color for the banner in Soft Suede using the Blooming in Kindness stamp set for my greeting.  I just LOVE that set!Best of Flowers 001 Banner
    • I added a Vintage Faceted Buttons with Linen Thread tied through them and two Pearl Basic Jewels to complete my banner. Best of Flowers 001 Height
    • I cut the end of the banner using a 1” Square Punch and popped it up on dimensionals for some drama to my simple card.
    • My Garden Green panel needed a little something so I created a vintage looking wallpaper by stamping the Rose Bouquet stamp several times from different angles in Garden Green.
    • I popped two Riding Hood Red panels on either edge.  It completed my card.
    • For my base, I chose Very Vanilla.
    • I just love the end result, I hope you do too.  It’s a classic card and really pops. To see my other card with this set from earlier in the week, click here.  To see my candle also done with this set, click here.

    Best of Flowers Candle

    Best Of Flowers 002 Main

Stampin’ Up!’s 25th Anniversary exclusive stamp set Best Of Flowers can be used in many versatile ways – don’t just think in 2D for cards!  I wanted a little pop for these cute flowers on this stamp which is quite smaller than it’s original.  But the change is worth it – at least for my cute little votive candles!

    Creative Tips:

    • Normally I would stamp with the ink pads, but since this stamp is so detailed, I used Stampin’ Write Markers – Melon Mambo and Garden Green.
    • I took my time to color in my stamp and then huffed it – remoistened the ink with the warmth of my breath by huffing of my stamp.
    • I stamped several images on white tissue paper, and then cut around the whole image leaving a little space for my glue.
    • I glued each image directly to my candle using the two way glue stick.   I had to trim a few flowers off since they were taller than my candle.

Best Of Flowers 002 Angle 3

    • I wrapped the candle tightly with wax paper, leaving an excess amount for me to hold on to.
    • I used my Heat Tool to carefully melt the wax from the candle through the tissue paper and wax paper.  I then quickly roll it onto a hard surface covered with grid paper so not to get any wax on the surface.  This rolls the candle flat again.
    • Once my image is translucent and I can’t see any of the white tissue paper, I knew it was done.  TIP – don’t over do it as your candle will be bumpy then.  It goes quick.
    • Be patient, pull your wax paper off slowly…let me say that again – Slowly!  Check it and spot melt any other sections with new wax paper.
    • I get my wax paper at the $1 store – that way I’m not skimpy with it!
    • Best Of Flowers 002 Angle 1

The end result is a fun personable candle that dresses up any occasion!  Have fun using this versatile stamp set for so much more than just cards!

Stampin’ Up! 25th Anniversary Best of Love Blog Tour

    blogtour-25years-march

Welcome to the RemARKable Best Of Love Blog Tour!  I’m stop #3 on the RemARKable Blog Tour!  You probably came from my good friend Linda’s blog Ink Stamp and Scrap – What did you think of her card?

    Best of Love 001 Main

Today I wanted to use these two images from this great stamp set.  This heart is so detailed, that it just screams – put me on a card!!  And I just LOVE this saying.  Who wouldn’t love the loops in it?  I wanted to add a little quilting to the background, so I decided to add panels and do a little faux stitching.

    Best of Love 001 Angle

    Creative Tips  –

    • I did a little faux stitching with a basic black marker on the background strips.
    • To get a little texture without taking away from the gorgeous heart, I used a simple background  – the Argyle Folder.
    • I wanted to add a little something to the card without over doing it, so I paper pierced a little something in each corner around my quilted background.
    • The colors of Midnight Muse, Bashful Blue and Cherry Cobbler were chosen from the Color Coach – love that tool!
    • For a little punch, I embossed the greeting in Pewter Embossing Powder – my new fav!

I certainly hope you enjoyed my simple but fun card today!  I know you’ll love what Melissa has for you next.  Here’s her blog address or just click the button below – http://www.stampinup.net/blog/2089191 Enjoy the tour!
