New Stamps & Some Favorites to Celebrate!

Yup, you read that right – there’s a new online paper crafting store….and you could be one of the first to check it out! Catherine Pooler announced the other day a soft opening of her new online shop – one that will house older Stamp of Approval Collections (SOA) – the first three to start (yup, my favorite snowflakes and dies + crooky cake are now available) and her brand new line of stamps – Catherine Pooler Designs!

The store opens Saturday June 25th at 9 AM EST to Stamp Nation members and the next day to newsletter subscribers. If there’s something you’ve been dying to have, don’t miss out – the soft opening is only 5 days till it’s permanently open in August – but who wants to wait?

So to celebrate, I’ve created some goodness for you. To start off, I have a fun and colorful Christmas card – it’s 100% embossed so it glistens and shines!

First create your background using the Harleen stencil by Winnie & Walter (Young at Heart SOA Collection) along with the double stenciling technique – once in Illuminate for a little pearl sparkle and again in just clear versamark for a lighter more subtle watermark look. Together they add an elegant backdrop to the card – think wedding or anniversary – it’s a wicked combo, here’s a close up!

Next you’ll want to create your tree. On your favorite green card stock, emboss (in gold) the snowflake border stamp from the CAS-ual Fridays stamp set Snowy Sayings which was featured in the Holiday SOA Collection. I used a piece of card stock that was 3 1/2″ wide. Cut it the length you’d like and on the reverse side made a dot at the top edge with a pencil in the center. Using a paper trimmer, cut from that dot to each opposite corner to form your tree.  Add a scrap of brown for the trunk – I like to keep mine short.

After folding your red card base, emboss your greeting in gold – I use Brutus Monroe powders – I LOVE them. For the greeting, I chose one from the Bright Baubles stamp set by Neat & Tangled from the Holiday SOA Collection. There are some GREAT holiday greetings in these stamp sets, but this one is my fav!

That’s it! Simple, but gorgeous. Embossing is such an elegant touch to any Christmas card.  Here are some links to some great projects with other sets that are available today – just click on the photo to see another great tutorial:
