Stamp of Approval: The Perfect Reason – Release Day

The Perfect Reason Collection - Stamp of Approval

It’s release day over at Catherine Pooler Designs! Stamp of Approval – The Perfect Reason Collection is now available to the public! Yup – you’ve probably already hopped along on our three day Blog Hop – if not, I have links for you at the end.

We had a Midnight Release PJ Party last night over on StampNation – boy was that fun. Many of the Design Team members jumped on live to create (including me!) with the collection, there was tons of chat, a newly released challenge and just an overall fun time.

Stamp of Approval

I have a few more projects for you today! I thought I’d channel my inner DT Clean and Simple gurus – Maureen Merritt and Kristie Goulet. These gals have clean and simple down, and I always just smile at all their creations. So this one is for you Maureen and Kristie!

White space is the key to Clean & Simple design – evident in these three projects:

Project One: CAS Pop

You can always pop up a panel like this and stamp under and on top – easily match them up for a cool look. This card uses the Perfect Reason & the You Did It stamp sets.

Project Two: CAS Mod

Complimentary colors (from the color wheel) are the name of the game for the project above and below. I’m in love with these combinations. You can not go wrong if you stick to complimentary colors (opposites on the color wheel). This project uses the Everyday Mod & You Did It stamp sets – I’m in LOVE with the Everyday Mod set – it has great geometric shapes and greetings.

Project Three: Midnight Paisleys

And finally – I thought I’d show you one of the three projects I made last night at our Midnight Release Party. Details on the card are over at StampNation here. That was such a great time – to be online with 1000+ of our closest sistahs from StampNation was FUN!

Paisley Peacock Stamp Set

I stamped the black outlines for the paisleys, and they told me what colors to use. I cut my panel down and my other card is over at StampNation, along with my version of a case of DT Member Melissa Miller’s Blog Hop card here.

PLUS, the StampNation weekly challenge was released during the party too – here’s a peek at what I created for it – inspired by the challenge mood board. SO much fun.

Watercolor Painted Poppies Video Tutorial

Blooming-Garden---Ingrid-Blackburn-Sneak-2

Have you every just had a crazy amount of fun making a card before? Well, that was me with this project! I’m guest blogging over at my friend Catherine Pooler’s blog today and have a written and video tutorial for you – be sure to hop on over there to check it out!

A few weeks ago over at StampNation, we had a fun challenge CASEing one of our members – Gail Hislop. I used one of her creations to get inspired and created this field of poppies – I have to say, I think it’s the prettiest watercolored card I’ve EVER made! To see it, you need to be on StampNation, so if you’re a member – here’s a direct link…Field of Poppies Card

The last time I was with Catherine – in real life – was last fall. We hung out one morning over coffee. I did what any good crafter would do…I brought cards with me! She fell in love with one of my tutorials for my Just Cards class, and wanted me to show how to watercolor stamp and paint it. So we hopped onto periscope and I did a quick live tutorial.

When she asked me to do a guest post on her blog…I immediately went to this technique. I knew she’d love an in depth tutorial, so what are you waiting for – hop on over to Catherine’s blog and check it out! Be sure to leave a comment and let us know what you think!! 🙂

See you VERY soon!

Stenciled Birthday Wishes

Stenciled Birthday Wishes 001

Today I have a simple and colorful birthday card for you. It’s amazing the things you can do with Distress inks and a little water. I have to admit, my card stock (Stampin Up Whisper White) had a weird reaction to this project and left me all these little dots. I still love the end result, and thought you’d like to see something that didn’t turn out perfect – but is still cool is my eyes!

Creative Tips:

  • First you’ll want to blend some fun and bright colors for the background. I used Mustard Seed, Seedless Preserves, Broken China, and a little Barn Door.

  • Next, pop the Moroccan stencil from Simon Says Stamp right over and mist it with water – keep your mist light.  That will started to lighten the card immediately.
  • Once you have the desired look, place your stencil back over and add a little more color – but keep it light.
  • I didn’t want to take away from the fun background, so I added a sentiment on some torn vellum, & kept the matting light to keep the clean and simple feel.
  • For some further embellishment – add some paper piercing to the white.

The end result is a fun, colorful card that pops!

I thought I’d play along at a new challenge for me – Seize the Birthday – how cool is that a challenge dedicated just to birthdays! Love that!

I’ve been in major stenciling mode the past few weeks, creating some cool pieces for a fun class – Creative Stencils & Mediums over at StampNation. Here’s a peek at some of the Design Teams examples from the last lesson, mine is the blue one:
