A fun challenge

I was challenged to make a card with the stamp set Chock-Full of Cheer and here is my fun little result!  The images in this set are quite fun in nature, so I find this set easy to use.  Especially with the complimentary wheel Cheerful Christmas and matching Designer Series Paper Be of Good Cheer.

I didn’t want to get too ornate with this one, just quick, simple and colorful.  This set to me screams bright bold color.  I chose to stick to the new 2012-2014 In Color collection and used everything except Primrose Petal!  I also kept the accessories to a minimum and just used the Scallop Border Punch and one Pearl Basic Jewels.  The end result is an easily mass produced card – I made 25 in just a few hours, that is just as fun as it is quirky.

  • To get just a hair of Raspberry Ripple showing around the stamped image squares and rectangle, I measured 1/16th to the left, right and in etween both.  For a total of 4/16 – or 1/4” larger than my white before I cut it up.
  • For the bottom, I used the large row of circles and masked it off if I felt it needed it, depending on where I stamped my Merry Christmas – in this case, to the right.

You could kick this card up a notch if you wanted to with more Pearl Basic Jewels or some Rhinestone Basic Jewels.  You could even stamp the circles at the bottom in alternating colors like I did for the card in this post.  Just have fun with it – after all, it’s in the name of the set… Chock-full of Cheer!

Distressed Dots Simplicity

My nephew Matt just got engaged to his soul mate Rebecca the other day.  🙂 I needed a quick and simple card to pop in the mail to congratulate them and here is the result.

I love Clean and Simple (CAS) cards.  There is nothing better than just a good quick card.  Even better, one that happens to use up some scraps that I had lying around.  This card is cute, vibrant and easy to pull together in five minutes.

The Distressed Dots background stamp is a must have in my book, because nothing has to be perfectly stamped.  That’s the nature of the distressed part.  It’s meant to look that way!  I used a square punch to achieve the banner ends on all the scraps that I used.

I popped the Sweet Essentials saying up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a few paper piercing finishing touches using the new Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack.

So Long, Farewell – Flower Fest

Since starting back in February, I have stamped with a few but much loved stamp sets.  Nothing is more loved by me that Flower Fest.  I will miss you my friend.  Here is a fun little card that we will be stamping with at a Stamp A Stack by request tomorrow.  To punch it up and make it current, I used our new In Colors – Summer Starfruit, Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals.  I didn’t think I would love Summer Starfruit as much as I do.  It’s that funky mix of yellow and green – very hip and cool.

I hope you love the result!  The butterflies are stamped in Basic Black and then burnished with the three in colors and some sponge daubers.  I used our Lots of Tags Sizzlits for the tag and Extra Large Oval Punch.  Since I don’t have too much ribbon yet in the In Colors – I have been using my fun little strip which seems to be becoming a fast favorite for me – and quite cost effective too!

This entire card is on a white base, and I adhered a 1/4 panel to the inside to give the color punch for the background.  When making a card like this – be sure to stamp the butterfly image completely – you’ll cut off the end with your paper snips, it looks better as a whole image rather than cut off (look at my second to the bottom image and you’ll see what I mean.

Have fun – this card has so many possibilities, I can’t wait to try it with some of the new stamp sets available tomorrow.
