Card Holder Gift set

Card Gift Set I love three dimensional projects.  Especially when I can coordinate them to a set of cards.  My stamp camp this month is a stamp a stack.  I saw this gift set on Pinterest and had to duplicate it.  I didn’t want to purchase the template from a website, so I figured it out on my own.  I do not sell templates to my customers – I’m all about sharing!

You may recognize the colors and stamp set from my Color Inspiration article, because I just made a bunch of cards with this set!  So why not make a matching desk holder as a cute little gift.

The trick with this template is that it is in two pieces.  Once I had the dimensions down, it came together rather quickly.  I free hand drew the side and then used that cut piece as a matching template for the opposite side.  I should note that you will need a similar piece for the stamped part, I used my grid paper and free hand drew a coordinating line on a piece of scrap paper.

Overall, this project took me about 15 minutes once I had the dimensions and template down.  I can’t wait to get my Designer Series Paper stack in so that I can make one with the DSP!  It will really be too cute then.

And this is the perfect gift for mom, the holidays or the high school grad going off to college!  Next I think I’ll make a coordinating pen with DSP to include with it.

Happy Creating!

Color Inspiration

I love to pull inspiration from everything in life.  Lately I’ve been saving pictures and color swatches to one of my boards on Pinterest.  (Click here if you want to follow my Pinterest Color Inspiration board)

I found this striking picture of the Serengeti while going through the photography boards.  The colors jumped out at me right away.  I like the drama of the deep sky and dark grey Elephants against the freshness of the green and neutral grasses.  I immediately went to my cardstock and began pulling colors.

I still only have my one image stamp set, so I pulled out my Baroque Motifs and went to work with tone on tone images.  The only one that varies is the Basic Grey I used to stamp the Sincere Salutations saying – Thinking of You.

To me it’s a classic and simple card that can be done in minutes.  I hope you enjoy!
