Fall to me is all about color. I love the bright and then muted colors the leaves bring to the Northeast. I so loved living in New York for seven years. I do miss the fall foliage, but thankfully I can bring a little of it to my cards with a favorite stamp set French Foliage. This versatile stamp set can do much more than just leaves, but for our purposes today, that was all I needed.
I started with a simple card stamped on a Whisper White card front. I love the multiple colors of leaves, so I decided to use the rock n roll technique for this project.
- Use a lighter shade for your main color and then add the pop to the outside.
- Be sure to gently roll your stamp on the edges at a severe angle for our look here, otherwise you will gather too much ink on the edges and drown out your main color.
- To get the muddy More Mustard/Gumball Green color I was shooting for, I started with More Mustard, then added just a splash of green to the middle of my leaf (small leaf). I used the edge of the pad to get this color on my stamp. I then stamped the whole leaf again into the More Mustard to blend the colors before edging just the slightest edge in Soft Suede.
I wanted to make a Thanksgiving card and decided to use the simple font of the Teeny Tiny Wishes set. The saying was much too small for this card, so I chose to stamp it four times in the the main colors of the leaves.
For the single panel card I went a more clean route and used our great new stamp set Made for You – three great sayings for $8.95 – it’s a classic!
- To give the projects a finished look I decided to use Linen Thread for a natural finish.
- I added two metallic brads to the project on the right on the upper Red Riding Hood strip to balance out the card.
- On the inside I added a card panel and stamped leaf.
Fall is my second favorite time of year after Winter. Yes – I’m a cold weather gal! I love the smells in the air in the fall. These cards remind me of colorful sceneries, apple pie and crisp in the air and a fire in the fire place. I don’t know why, but they just do. I hope you enjoy your fall where ever you are and have fun making these projects!
Creatively yours –
Ingrid
