Mix Mash Christmas Tree

Mix Mash Christmas Tree - Ingrid Blackburn 001

It’s anything goes month for the Mixed Media challenge at Happy Little Stampers – so jump right on in, the water is pretty warm! I’ve been in MAJOR Christmas card mode for the last month. We’re wrapping up our 12 Days of Christmas class here, and the ideas are still flowing strong! For this challenge, I wanted to incorporate a little texture that is felt and not felt. What do I mean? Keep reading the tutorial below!

Tutorial for Mix Mashed Christmas Tree

  • Create your background first onto a piece of Stone colored card stock. Secure it to your work surface – I use a craft mat.
  • Secure your stencil on top and sponge Pumice Stone onto project.
  • Remove your stencil and dip project into Platinum embossing powder. You want a random look that mostly sticks to the darkened areas.

  • Stamp and emboss circles onto Olive card stock. Sponge over top with Peeled Paint and Forest Moss on the edge. If you wish – add Gathered Twigs to the edge.
  • Wipe embossed pieces off with a lightly damp paper towel. Trim tree so that it is 3 x 4 1/4″
  • Sponge Espresso card stock strip. scrap for banner and edge of card base with Ground Espresso Distress ink. Adhere trunk to tree, leaving 1/2″ showing.
  • Pop up on foam tape or Fun Foam and adhere to card front.
  • Emboss greeting from Mixed Christmas Sentiments onto Espresso card stock. Cut banner tail and adhere to card front.
  • Add red and gold sequins to tree and adhere card front to Espresso card base.

In the meantime – be sure to check out the Mixed Media Challenge at Happy Little Stampers. Our definition of Mixed Media is stamps + ink, plus two other elements which add texture and/or dimension.

Till then – keep those fingers inky!
