It’s Christmas in July today!! I know you’ve been patiently waiting – today is the beginning of a fun new Christmas Challenge over at Happy Little Stampers. I’m honored to be on the design team and our first challenge is one close to my heart – Trees! I know, you thought for sure I’d create a scene with some snow drifts, mountains, etc….well, that’s the good part – this challenge runs all month long – so there’s plenty of time for that!
I happened to be in a clean and simple mood to kick off a this great challenge. Here is the end result – a layered and stenciled tree. You’ll see layers, shading and a very duplicatable design. Creative Tips –
- I went for deep rich colors. Always start with your lightest as in the video, then add to it as you want to deepen and develop the layers.
- This card is simple, but intriguing with the layers – try fun designs in place of the script stamp.
- The key when using a stencil is to secure your card stock and stencil down. Without that, you’ll be all over the place.
- Post it notes are key to keeping areas clean that easily get ink on them
