Where did the summer go?  September looms in the wings and before you know it, Christmas will be upon us, yikes!  Do you have any of your holiday cards done?  I’ve been participating in the Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge from time to time the past two months.  I’m proud to say that I already have 12 of my holiday cards done.  Let me know in the comments if you’ve been getting yours done!!  Smile

If you followed along with the blog last week, then you know we have a new 1+2=3 Series.  Now I know all the projects are a bit similar (nature of the challenge), but each has its own charm and elegance, and aside from the main image being the same – each is quite different.  If you missed the first three, you can find links at the end of this article.

And now…Enjoy this exclusive CT tutorial!  I have so much more headed your way in the weeks to come – can we say 12 weeks of Christmas?!! Smile

Creative Tips –

  • For an elegant background, try embossing silver on silver.  It really gives your project an impact statement (this photo does not do this project justice)!
  • For a contrast to the elegance, try tearing your vellum for your greeting (embossed in black) – the rough edges actually look soft against the silver metal background.  Ornament Keepsakes 006
  • And for the ultimate contrast, emboss gold on black for the ornaments (the right one is popped up).  Using these textures together really make this card work.
  • To tone down the powerful silver background, I used gold large and small sequins from Pretty Pink Posh (LOVE those!)

  • The brushed silver card stock background is mounted on a slightly larger black card stock and then popped up onto a black card base.

This card is one of my favorites out of the seven varieties that I made.  Here you see a photo of it next to the other brushed silver background that I made for the third project.

Notice the difference in the backgrounds – one is made with Silver embossing powder and another with clear embossing powder.  Both have a great look, but give a much different effect.
